Myers Park started playing baseball in 1951, with the legendary Jack Sink serving as its head coach from day one until 1984. Coach Sink and the Mustangs won the State Championship in 1970. Royce Thomason coached the team in 1985. Current Myers Park Athletic Director Greg Clewis was the Head Coach from 1986 through 1997. Les Deming followed Coach Clewis in 1998 and coached though the 2005 season. Coach Deming’s 2003 team advanced to the State 4A final. Bobby Simmons, currently an assistant Principal at MP, was the head coach from 2004 until 2008. Head Coach John Spencer took over the Mustang program for the 2009 season.
